About
A familiar vibe. A fresh challenge.
The table is set, the tiles are ready, and your group has gathered for a friendly night of socializing and competition. Maybe there are snacks and drinks nearby. Maybe not. What matters is that everyone is together, ready to unplug, compete, and play something refreshingly different.
The idea for noQ started with what I have always loved about playing American Mahjong: the sound of the tiles, the rhythm of play, and the anticipation that builds as each hand comes together. But the more I played, the more I wanted a format with greater flexibility than fixed game cards allowed. With suits, numbers, and a finite number of winnable hands, I often wished I could play a hand that wasn’t there. Another version of Mahjong wasn’t the answer; I wanted something more open-ended, more creative, and completely different. So, while I continued playing American Mahjong with various groups of friends and online, noQ took shape in Chicago. noQ is a game where a player’s own skill and creativity take the lead. It’s a word-building letter-tile game in the flexible format I longed for, with premium tiles that feel substantial in hand and gameplay that follows a familiar Mahjong-style rhythm. But noQ is completely original, with its own rules, strategy, and possibilities.
Best of all, every round is a unique experience—you’re unlikely to ever assemble the same winning hand twice.
My vision for noQ is to bring an elevated tabletop experience to friends, couples, and adults who enjoy gathering in person for something engaging, creative, and competitive. You won’t need any Mahjong knowledge to enjoy and get hooked on noQ. Wondering why it’s called noQ? Because there’s no letter Q in the game. Happy playing, ~Cheryl~ Founder, noQ™ Game
